Supposedly, Escudo is the "standard of
Va/Per." The ingredient list is short: Virginia and Perique, so expect
some citrus and hay from the Virginas and some spice and fig from the Perique.
Perique blends tend to run toward the medium for both body and flavor.
Well, I get it: I understand the hype. My bowl
was a delight. The citrus of the Virginia and spice of the Perique complimented
each other wonderfully. I certainly noticed the body of this one, but it burned
smoothly, so it didn't bother me. If you're looking for the pinnacle of Va/Per,
give this one a try.
