Plateau briar is some of the most difficult to work with because it comes from the outer edges of the burl. Cladio Cavicchi shows no problems with this acorn. Flame grain dances around the bowl and shank which is capped with a plateau as well. The quarter-bent, saddle stem should take some of the pressure off the large bowl for a comfortable clench. Combine a stunning piece of briar with Cavicchi's drilling, and you have a legend of Italian pipe-making that lives up to its name.
