In the tray of Cavicchi’s, this one stands out with its darker stain. This stain provides a nice contrast for the tight straight grain around the bowl and shank. The half-bent, tapered stem keeps the curves flowing throughout the pipe. Napoli is stamped on the side which Cavicchi used to grade his pipes before the C-system, so this is an older Cavicchi pipe. Still, the drilling shows the earliest steps to becoming a legend in Italian pipemaking.
