With the best ingredients, W. O. Larsen builds exceptional blends with an experimetnal flair. Virginias and Burleys are gathered from around the world, and Black Cavendish rounds out the blend. The Cavendishes come with a combination of alcohols, chocolate, and fruits. The pipe tobacco mixture then goes though an aging process to smooth the tobaccos together. Using Cavendish only as condiments, W. O. Larsen's 1864 is a great pipe tobacco blend for a unique aromatic.
As I smoked 1864, the flavors changed with every puff. The natural tobacco flavors are there, but I was also aware of the toppings too. The amaretto and whiskey seemed the most conistent added flavors to me, and the fruits shined only with the Virginias for me. The chocolate blends with the Burley as an accent. I'd put the body of this one at a mild + level, and the flavor boldness moves to the medium, medium + range. If you want a flavorful, all-day aromatic, this might be your best bet.
