Mac Baren made their name with Mixture Flake through their proprietary production of Cavendish. That Cavendish carries a honey topping into a blend of Virginias and Burleys from around the world. The ratio of components allows the flake to burn evenly with an ever-changing, nuanced flavor while keeping the body nice and mild.
The thick flakes here are easy for the roll-and-stuff method if you are a fan. Otherwise, they break apart easily. The Burleys, Virginias, and Cavendish complimented each other nicely, in my bowl, and no one dominated the others. Subtly sweet here, nutty with some spice there, and honey with earth up next. The flavor is hard to pin down because of the complexity, but I enjoyed my smoke as the tobacco kept me puffing to see what was next.
