Glen Piper is one of Robert McConnell’s
aromatic offerings, but there is a lot going on here. Virginia lays the base
for a healthy addition of fruit-topped Cavendish, some Kentucky Dark Fireds,
and a dash of perique. I’d expect the Virginias and Cavendishes to keep the
body around the mild - mild + level, while the fruit topping to move the flavor
to the medium range. Room note should be very nice.
The fruit flavor is certainly forward in this
but think more of melon citrus than a lemon or orange type citrus. The
Virginias and Perique accent different characteristics of the melon at certain
points. Meanwhile, the earthy Dark Fireds seem almost an afterthought. I will
confirm the mild body from my bowl, and I wouldn’t the room note would offend.
