Based on the descriptions of the original
Three Nuns, this blend might be closer to what Tolkien and Lewis smoked.
Virginias from around the world form the outer layer of the coins while a mix
of Kentucky Dark Fired and Perique make the center. The body comes in at a
medium to full, and the room note might upset the nonsmokers.
In my bowl, the Kentuckys stand out most. I
get a lot of roasted, nutty flavor with the sweet Virginias adding a consistent
back note. The Perique lends a bit of spice but nothing over the top. Toward
the bottom of the bowl, I picked up the Perique slightly more, but again
nothing too forward. I would move the body more to the fuller end, and the room
note drew some attention. I’d recommend this for a pleasant, relaxing smoke at
the end of the day.
